DIY Ombre Dip Dye Button Down
You may have already known this from my DIY leather embellished military jacket, but one color that I always love for fall is army green. And since ombre is still in style, I decided to make an ombre dip-dyed army green shirt. Have you tried dip-dying yet? It is surprisingly very simple. So here is the scoop.
white button down shirt
olive green permanent fabric dye
detergent (to get the smell of the dye out)
rubber gloves
4 Tablespoons of salt
glass pan or bucket
With your gloves on, dissolve the dye + salt in 4 cups of warm water. Rinse the bottom half of the shirt with water. This will help the ombre process when you are ready. Next, dip one third of the shirt in the dye, either keeping the sleeves out or in. Soak the shirt for a couple of minutes, allowing the dye to spread up the shirt. Rinse the shirt under the sink with cold water. Squeeze out the excess dye and water. Allow to dry, and rinse again. Allow to dry a second time, and wash. This will get rid of any smell the dye might leave behind. Dry your shirt! Voila! You are now in style for fall!
What do you all think? Would you give this a try or does dip-dying scare the heck out of you?
